571 Grill & Draft House for sale

Listing includes 4,000 sq.-foot building, property

After more than two decades in business together, the 571 Grill & Draft House owners have decided to sell the popular local bar and restaurant located at 12389 Milton-Carlisle Road.

“We have accomplished a lot, I think, and created a brand that is recognizable with a good reputation,” co-owner Tim Juday said. “However, as much as we love the business, and the staff and guests, there is a time to slow down and enjoy life in other ways.”

Juday said a listing with Realtor Reed Spencer at Re-Max Victory + Alliance in Troy went public in May. The sale will include the business and its 4,000-square-foot building on a 0.75-acre property. Juday said that the 571 Grill & Draft House will remain open as usual until it is sold.

Juday and his wife Brandy opened the 571 Grill & Draft House in 2015, after purchasing the Tom’s Deli & Carryout that was previously located there and running it for several years.

“Brandy is originally from Tipp City and a Bethel Graduate,” he said. “We were visiting on a weekend, and we were told about Tom's Deli being for sale. Brandy contacted the realtor, got some information, and that's how we ended up here.”

“We bought the business in 2000, and it soon had an identity issue,” Juday said. “Was it a deli or a restaurant? We renamed it 571 Grill & Draft House in March 2015, and that changed everything.”

Known for gourmet burgers like the Haystack, which features applewood smoked bacon, smoked gouda cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickle, onion, jalapenos, onion straws, and 571 sauce on grilled brioche. As well as wings and signature side items, including smoked gouda macaroni cheese balls, hand-cut fries, and pub chips. 571 Grill & Draft House has been featured in several local and national publications and was named as one of the six best places to grab a burger in the Midwest by the online travel magazine travelpulse.com.

“It’s nice to get recognition of all that hard work we’ve done over the years,” Juday said. “We’re different from a McDonald’s or Taco Bell,” he said. “We serve really, really good quality food, and you can grab a beer here or a glass of wine.”

Juday said two of his favorite things about running 571 Grill & Draft House have been the excitement and creativity of staff and the compliments received from guests. “I think my most favorite thing is that we have succeeded in a tough industry,” he said, “but most importantly, the staff. They are amazing.”

Juday said that the restaurant and bar currently have 23 employees. “The staff is really great,” he said. “There’s virtually no turnover here.”

“It’s really a well-seasoned, well-oiled machine,” Juday said. “That’s the important part, is to have a well-trained staff and take care of them, and they’ll take care of business.”

571 Grill & Draft house is open from 12 to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. More information can be found online at www.571grill.com.

“It’s a good business,” Juday said. “We’ve had a lot of interest in it.”

“The clientele is really, really good,” he said.

So far, Juday said he and his wife are still unsure what their next project will be, although they do plan to remain in the New Carlisle area.

“I think we would like to relax for a while, and spend time catching up with family and friends,” he said, “but then we will find a passion for something else to pursue.”
