In the heart of Bethel Township, a beacon of hope shines bright

Bethel Hope, a faith-based non-profit organization based out of Brandt United Methodist Church in Bethel Township, has been serving the community's needs with compassion and dedication since 2005. Formed to address specific needs, this remarkable organization has made a tangible difference in the lives of families and individuals.

Bethel Hope's roots can be traced back to a three-day revival, "Celebration for Christ 2000," where area pastors recognized the need for a service to support families. Today, several churches come together as part of the board of directors, making Bethel Hope a true multi-church ministry. With the support of the Tipp City Foundation, private donations, and volunteers, Bethel Hope continues to grow and serve.

Bethel Hope's food pantry, operated by 11 community volunteers, provides essential nutrition to those in need within the Bethel community. It also offers financial assistance for critical bills like rent and utilities. But that's not all. Mary Manning, the director of Bethel Hope, said, “Many times our clients come in for help but also just enjoy talking with us and sharing about their lives.”

Their annual events, such as the Christmas Dinner with Santa and Back-to-School Backpack event, bring joy and support to the community. A Bethel teacher has seen firsthand the impact of Bethel Hope's support. Sometimes, students arrive at school with no backpack or school supplies, and this is where Bethel Hope steps in. Each year, Bethel Hope provides the schools with brand new backpacks filled with school supplies for students in need, which also helps the teachers.

Bethel Schools is a big contributor to Bethel Hope’s pantry, hosting several events throughout the year to collect non-perishable food items and toiletry items for their pantry. This past year, the Bethel Baseball team stepped up to the plate, heading door-to-door to collect donations for Behel Hope. Their efforts hit it out of the park and made a significant impact to our community. This past fall Bethel Middle School Student Council representatives took a trip to Meijer, shopped for Bethel Hope while Meijer footed the bill. Seeing the strong sense of community we share here in Bethel is truly amazing. Rallying together is second nature for Bethel and it is a true testament to the power of unity and compassion. Manning said, “Our clients really appreciate this. We couldn’t survive without the help from the Bethel Community.”

Bethel Hope is more than just an organization—it's a symbol of community, compassion, and hope. Its mission to teach self-sufficiency through training programs and affiliate organizations is a testament to its commitment to long-term support. As a community, we're fortunate to have Bethel Hope shining bright, reminding us that together, we can make a difference.
