Lunch Break: Lincoln Square V

Sampling dishes and diners in and around Miami County

In my opinion, the best part of grabbing a bite to eat at a diner is the community within its doors. When visiting Lincoln Square V, located at 1320 Archer Dr., Troy, it’s clear that the subtitle “family restaurant” describes the place perfectly. Not only is there food for all ages and friendly staff, but there’s an unmatched atmosphere that you just can’t get outside of a small town. Tipp City does homestyle food perfectly, but if you find yourself a few miles north, it’s clear that Troy has a lot to offer as well.

The Lincoln is bustling with people, and although it’s busy, their full tables are only one of the many factors that make the restaurant feel like home. There’s a hum of conversation everywhere and an atmosphere filled with family laughter, first dates, computer keys typing away, and friends grabbing a cup of coffee. Not only is the Lincoln perfect for a regularly scheduled lunch break with a full menu of burgers, sandwiches, and more, but it’s also a great place to stop for a late breakfast, served until 2:00 p.m. If you’ve lived in Tipp City for a while, you may remember the quaint diner just off of the highway “Tipp o’ the Town.” If there’s a chance you've missed it as much as I have, hop over a town and experience the nostalgic and similar vibe of the Lincoln.

The breakfast menu is just as large as their lunch, so I opted for one of the best dishes on any breakfast menu—the Corned Beef Hash. The hash was perfect, complete with crispy potato squares mixed with savory corned beef. However, what was most interesting was the home fries. The Lincoln home fries are unique in that they have a crispy outer layer with a soft and fluffy inside. Although they’re the Square, the Lincoln definitely thinks outside of the box. The home fries I ordered were deliciously similar to the best parts of a potato pancake. These were a great egg dipper, as well as good alone or with ketchup. You also can’t go wrong with an order of raisin toast drizzled in warm butter and paired with a cup of hot coffee, poured whenever you start to get low.

Overall, if you're in need of a pick-me-up or simply craving a warm meal that feels like home, Lincoln Square V is the place to be. This small-town diner offers more than just a delicious corned beef hash meal. It's a hub of positive vibes with an upbeat atmosphere that's sure to leave you feeling sunny side up.
