Child pornography search warrant executed, one arrested
On January 30, 2025, deputies and detectives with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in the 8800 block of U.S. Route 40 in Bethel Township. The search warrant was the culmination of an on-going investigation into child pornography. Items seized during the search warrant included computer hard drives, thumb drives, cellular phone, digital tablet, router, and other electronic items.
Taken into custody without incident was Michael J. Volz, age 69, of Bethel Township. Volz was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail and charged with three counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, felonies of the third degree. Additional charges are expected after further processing of the evidence and consultation with the Miami County Prosecuting Attorney.
