NC Fire Department plans open house Oct. 12
NEW CARLISLE- The New Carlisle Fire Department will host its annual Open House from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, in celebration of National Fire Prevention Month.
“Fire Prevention month is October,” Fire Chief Steve Trusty said. “The first full week of October is Fire Prevention Week.” Fire trucks, Medic Units, and equipment will be on display during the open house, which will also feature refreshments and door prizes.
“People can come in and see the trucks and meet the firefighters,” Trusty said. “We’re also going to have stuff to hand out for the kids and the adults.”
“We’re going to have games and food and drinks, and we’re also going to have door prizes,” he said. “The city council members will also be here with us, so they can answer any questions for the citizens.”
New self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBAs) will also be on display. “We just purchased all brand-new air packs, or SCBA’s, they’ll be able to see those, plus also the normal equipment that’s on the medic,” Trusty said.
“We’ll also be able to show them what’s coming in the future,” he said. “We ordered a new engine that will be coming in 2026, and we’re planning on purchasing a new medic in that same time frame.”
The open house is held every year during Fire Prevention Week, Trusty said. “Come out and meet your Fire Department,” he said. “Come out and have a good afternoon.”
