City hosts ribbon-cutting ceremony for new McDonald’s location

NEW CARLISLE- Officials from the city of New Carlisle celebrated the opening of a new McDonald’s location on North Main Street during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Thursday, Sept. 12.

“It’s a great situation to see the Golden Arches grace the skyline of the city of New Carlisle,” Mayor William Cook said.

Located at 500 North Main Street, the new McDonald’s officially opened on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The location is owned and operated by the Godlove Family Restaurant Franchise.

“We’re super-excited to be here in the New Carlisle community,” Godlove Family Restaurant Franchise Director of Operations Mark Reese said.

“Most people don’t realize the number of people a McDonald’s restaurant employs,” he said. “Right now, we have about 45 employees. We hope to grow that staff to around 70 in the weeks to come now that we’re actually open, and provide opportunities for the community.”

The new McDonald’s features two drive-through lanes, and the locations includes unique new features like an after-hours mobile pick-up area and contactless ordering and payment.

“Technology, and mobile and digital ordering, is where McDonald’s is going,” Godlove Family Restaurant Franchise owner Eric Godlove said. “Our mobile ordering app is amazing, (allowing people) to order ahead and have it ready when you get here.”

“We’re the second new restaurant to have it. There are a few other ones that have the cash-taking ability on the kiosk,” he said. “We’re excited about that too; it opens up a whole new ability for customers to use the kiosks who don’t use credit cards, which is great.”

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Godlove also presented a $10,500 donation towards improvements at the baseball fields located next door to the new restaurant.

“They’re going to redo all the benches, and then they’re also going to rebuild one of the dugouts with the money,” Godlove said. “They’ve got a plan to do two of the dugouts. It will be really nice for the kids.”

Originally from California, Godlove said he moved to the Miami Valley in 2018. He is a third-generation McDonald’s operator.

“My father and my grandfather were both franchisees,” Godlove said. “My granddad actually answered an ad in the paper from Ray Kroc, when he used to put it in the classifieds.”

The Godlove Family Restaurant Franchise now owns a total of 23 McDonald’s locations throughout the Dayton and northern Cincinnati area. The New Carlisle location is the company’s furthest northern location, Reese said.

The Park Layne McDonald’s is owned by the McDonald’s Corporation, Godlove said.

“We’re just excited to be in New Carlisle,” he said. “We’re definitely grateful for the opportunity for McDonalds and the city.”

“We’re looking forward to doing business here,” Godlove said. “Everybody’s been amazing so far, that we’ve met. We’re really excited about it.”
