Tipp volleyball cruises past Stebbins, WC
It was business as usual for the Tippecanoe volleyball team, dominating two more league opponents as the Red Devils ran their season record to 16-0 with a pair of wins last week.
Tipp opened with a home win against Stebbins, 25-11, 25-10, 25-14 in a fast contest. The Red Devils then came back with a big win at West Carrollton.
Against Stebbins, it was a close contest early in the first game with Tipp leading 4-3 before Savannah Clawson reeled off five consecutive serves including two aces with solid net play from Abbi Mader and Emily Aselage, giving Tipp a 10-3 lead. Another run of serves from Genna Kinsman added to the Tipp lead, pushing the advantage to 15-4. Bri Morris then ran off five points with big kills from Courtney Post, Lexi Luginbuhl and Aselage to set the Red Devils up for the easy win.
Game two started the same way as the previous game with Stebbins staying close, but Clawson ran off seven points to extend the Tipp led to 11-3.
Kinsman then scored seven points to take their lead out to 19-4 as they were in control. A small run from Stebbins closed the gap, but Ava Jones reeled off the final three points of the game.
The Red Devils came out strong to open the third as Faith Siefring scored the game’s first ten points with three aces to give Tipp a 10-0 lead. The Red Devils never looked back as Emily Richardson scored three to make it 14-1 but Tipp earned the sweep and remains unbeaten in the conference.
“The setters did a great job moving the ball around with many contributions by the entire squad,” Tipp coach Howard Garcia said. “The team got a good chance to work on things that we needed to improve defensively which was a plus. Our defense again was solid, limiting Stebbins to only seven kills.”
On the day, Clawson led Tipp with seven kills and seven digs along with four aces. Aselage added seven kills and four digs.
Kinsman served seven aces with Siefring adding six. Morris led Tipp with ten assists, Jenna Krimm added nine and Richardson dished out seven.
Siefring led with nine digs.
Also last week, Tipp defeated West Carrollton 25-2, 25-5, 25-19.
