Krimm shines in final season at Tipp
For Jenna Krimm, her stats speak for themselves. The Tippecanoe senior volleyball player has been an integral part of the Red Devils district championship volleyball team, as she finished third in the Miami Valley League in assists and second in the conference in service aces.
But for Krimm, while the stats are impressive, the special season is what she will remember when she finishes her career with the Red Devils.
“After my sophomore year, we lost a lot of good seniors, and after that, it caused a little bit of discouragement for us. But we have a lot of new players. We are more well-rounded, and we all work really well together, and it makes it special,” Krimm said last week after practice. “We all know how hard we work and how much we deserve.”
“We may not be the tallest or jump the highest, but all of us put 100% into everything we do. We all work together well; we are all friends with each other. We have a special bond that a lot of other teams don’t have.”
“Jenna … aka The Doctor … is a savvy player,” Tipp coach Howard Garcia said. “She is very even-keeled and has experience in the type of system we want to play and tends to maintain a calm game. She also makes the corrections given to her.”
“When you talk about second in serves and third in assists … we play a 6-2 so we have two setters sharing the wealth. If I were to track down her setting accuracy and assist percentage, if we were playing a 5-1 offense, she would be dominating the league.”
One big accomplishment the team achieved this year was not losing a set the entire season in the MVL. 18-0 with 54 consecutive sets where Tipp was victorious. It is something Krimm and her team will always remember.
“It means a lot to us, and even if the competition at times may not always be the best, we always just play our game and push ourselves no matter what,” she said. “We strive to be the best we can be.”
The thing about the Red Devils squad is that the players have so many different roles, which is what they have done this season. Her league ranking in assists and aces makes her a strong floor general, which leads to success.
“As a setter, it is important for me to make good decisions and try to be a leader,” Krimm said. “I have to be a good leader, and the setters have to make the best decisions at the moment.”
“We also have a lot of good servers on this team. The biggest thing is staying calm and keep yourself collected.”
Everyone loves to win, and Krimm has been a part of a lot of them as a member of the Red Devils volleyball program over her career. She also will remember a lot of the other things when looking back on her high school career.
“I think we all get along. It is a great group of people, and it is how I met some of my best friends,” she said. “I just really appreciate all of them.”
Krimm also displayed her leadership qualities by mentioning the future of the Red Devils program and the youngsters coming up through the youth camps, along with those who are on the team now coming back next year.
“Howie is such a competitive coach. We need to be competing with ourselves every day because we are what makes each other better,” she said. “We have to keep pushing each other and stay unified as a whole.”
Krimm said she is done with the game after this year but plans to come back and watch the Tipp games in the future. She hopes to attend The Ohio State University and major in biomedical engineering.
