New Pastor brings excitement to Tipp City’s church

After searching for a new Pastor, Zion Lutheran Church is excited to welcome Jaren Summers into its congregation. Jaren is an energetic new addition to the Tipp City community and is already enjoying the love and family that the city and Zion Lutheran Church have to offer.

Before being called to preach at Zion Lutheran, Summers spread the word at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus. The church is located within Capital University, where Jaren studied for four years to receive his master’s in divinity.

Although switching from a big city to a small town is new for him, Jaren and his family are enjoying their new groove in Tipp City. Summers was born in Troy, making him not completely unfamiliar with the area, but he moved shortly after. His father, however, started his career locally, and although Summers hasn’t been a local for very long, he feels as though the small town was home from the moment he moved here. He says, “It is kind of like a homecoming for me. This is where my family started, and even though I don't remember it, this is kind of where my family is getting their start.” Not only is Jaren entering the community, but his wife, son, and newborn daughter are as well. Jaren found his faith through his time attending college. Since discovering his love for the Church and religion, Jaren has made it a goal to present faith in a new and appealing way.

Summers is already making waves in his congregational community. The members of Zion Lutheran happily welcome Jaren and his family into the church and appreciate his exciting ways of spreading the word. Jaren’s goal is to introduce the church in a new way and hopes to continue to be more active in the community. He says that “Zion Lutheran Church is a place where all are welcome” and that the church wants to “Share Love with everyone.” One of the ways Jaren is branching out is by hosting a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving on November 9th for some of the community's younger members. By registering, kids can attend Zion Lutheran and enjoy food, friends, and a showing of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

For Jaren, His faith is centered around relationships. Jaren believes that we have a relationship with God and with each other, and in his ministry, he’s all about building those relationships to form a community and family. His conversational style creates an environment for those who may have never experienced the potential and peace that attending church has to offer or even for those who have lost their faith or have been confused about what it means to them. Zion Lutheran Church has enjoyed Jaren’s outlook and goals since his arrival in September and is excited to share them with the church and the Tipp City community.
