Vandalia Bits for October 23

VANDALIA, OH—The corner of Dixie and National may look a little different over the next few weeks as crews begin a short project to replace trees planted alongside downtown sidewalks. This project will ensure no further damage is caused to the area and is expected to take just over two weeks of work. Still, even the most unfortunate tricks of fate are balanced out by a number of treats in this season.

●       Just before Halloween, the Rock the Rec Halloween Party will be hosted at the Vandalia Sport Complex on October 26 from 12–4 p.m. The event will be free for all, and all ages are welcome to join in for an afternoon of vendors, inflatables and a judged costume contest!

●       Not least among these treats, Beggars’ Night (known better to some as Trick-or-Treat) will take place on Halloween night, October 31, from 6–8 p.m. in Vandalia neighborhoods this year.

●       Meanwhile, early in-person voting is available now throughout Montgomery County. Election Day will be November 5, and voting registration, location and more can be found directly at https://www.montgomery.boe.ohio.gov/.

●       On Saturday, November 9, the Vandalia Rec Center will be hosting their 39th Annual Turkey Shoot inside their gymnasium. Teams consisting of one adult and one child will compete toward winning a gift card prize, and multiple age brackets are available for participants. The fee to attend is $5 per a residential or a member-holding team, while non-members are required to pay $7.
