WaWa files concept plan for 25A site

A concept plan for a Wawa gas station and food market has been filed with the city of Tipp City planning/zoning department. The concept plan shows the proposed business at the northwest corner of County Road 25A and Kessler-Cowlesville Road.

This location is across County Road 25A from two properties being proposed as locations for Sheetz and QuikTrip gas stations/convenience stores. Those locations now are home to Four Star Tool Rental and Knickerbocker Pools, which city officials said would be relocated to the south along County Road 25A.

The only paperwork filed with the city so far is the concept plan, said Colin Carville, city planner/zoning administrator. A Zoom meeting was held recently with the WaWa team, he said. In a report to City Council, City Manager Tim Eggleston said Wawa is “looking at installing Tesla chargers” at their site.

Applications available for kids Christmas project

Miami County Job and Family Services is accepting applications for the Christmas for Kids program.

Applications can be made by phone at 937-573-2460 or in person Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Job and Family Services office, 2040 N. County Road 25A, Troy.

Parents/guardians must have custody of the child or children and must qualify for benefits through Job and Family Services. The application deadline is Dec. 8.

Needy Basket taking holiday basket applications

The holidays are coming and the Needy Basket Committee is again planning to provide baskets to make the holidays a little brighter for families that may be facing financial difficulties this year. Families will receive food items to prepare a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, toys for younger children, gift cards for older children and clothing vouchers from the Clothesline for the whole family.

Food/toy collection barrels and monetary donation canisters will be located in many local businesses during the holiday season to help support this effort.

Through the continuing generosity and support of the Tipp City Community, Needy Basket has been able to keep this project going for 77 years. To receive a basket, families must apply in person at 330 S. Fifth St., rear entrance. The hours are Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The deadline for application is Nov. 30. Families must reside in Tipp City, Monroe Township or Bethel Township and meet current income guidelines for food assistance.
