Probate Court to appoint interim member to school board
The Miami County Probate Court will appoint an interim member for the Tipp City Exempted Village Schools Board of Education after the board failed to appoint before a 30-day deadline. The court now is accepting applications for the appointment. Superintendent Aaron Moran notified the court Friday, Oct. 6, that the board had not filled the vacancy created by the Sept. 5 resignation of Simon Patry. His term expires on Dec. 31 and is one of three seats up for election Nov. 7. “I request that probate court appoint a person to fill the vacancy as per ORC (Ohio Revised Code) 3313.85,” Moran wrote in the request.
The Probate Court later Friday posted information on its website about the process that will be followed in filling the vacancy. The court said it will accept until Thursday, Oct. 12, at 4 p.m. application material from those interested in the appointment.
The application must include a letter of interest; an application form (available on the court website https.co.miami.oh.us/135/Probate); letters of reference (minimum of two); and a completed questionnaire (also available on the website). The information should be filed by email to Chief Deputy Probate Clerk at hparshall@miamicountyohio.gov or with the Probate Court Clerk of Courts, Second Floor, Miami County Safety Building, 201 W. Main St., Troy, 45373. “The Miami County Probate Court will likely review applications and select a replacement board member based on the provided information and applicable legal requirements. Any community member may submit a letter of support for an applicant by the application deadline,” the court stated on its website. A timeline for the appointment process was not provided.
Patry said he resigned due to family and business obligations. Thirteen people had filed applications with the board for the appointment.
