Tipp, Troy enjoy day at the track
They are two of the top rivals in the Miami Valley League, and they got together for a dual meet last week at Tippecanoe. The Red Devils and Troy met in a junior high/high school meet and the Trojans came out on top in the boys race, outscoring Tipp 75-71, while in the girls race, both teams finished tied 74-74.
Maddy Lopez started the event in the 100 Hurdles with a third place finish for Tipp, running 17.96. Max Howard was second in the boys 110 Hurdles with a time of 16.95 with his teammates Julius Galbert placing third (19.07) and Atticus Poulos finishing fourth (19.07).
Tipp dominated the girls 100 dash with all four top finishers. Megan Strong ran 13.07 for a first-place finish, Julia Burgbacher was second at 13.70, Brooks Shafer placed third at 13.88 and Kendall Davis placed fourth with a time of 14.11. In the boys event, Will Strong ran a sub-11 to capture the title with a 10.99, with his Tipp teammate Nathan Franklin placing third (11.67).
Tipp won the girls 4x2 relay with a time of 1:57.19 while the boys team placed second in that race, completing the event in 1:43.13.
In the girls 1600, Lauren Anderson was runner-up with a time of 6:33.70 and Abigail Hogge placed fourth, running 6:52.17. For the boys, Tipp only had one finisher in the top four as Noah Heisey was third overall at 5:09.04.
Tipp won the 4x1 girls race (53.41) and the boys race (47.06) before Alissa Magato dominated the 400 with a time of 58.57. Her Tipp running mate Brynna Campbell was second (1:04.61) and Blakely Barton from Tipp was third with a 1:04.80. Grant Titley led four Tipp runners who took up all of the top four spots in the boys 400. Titley ran 51.59, while runner-up Zach Foster ran 52.94, Collin Snider was third (53.53) and Xavier Allen fourth (54.57).
Ella Combs placed second in the girls 300 Hurdles with a 54.31 while in the boys race, Myles David-Sessions was third with 48.91 and Galbert placed fourth 52.97.
Briley Barton took the 800 meter run for the girls, running 2:35.68 with Tipp’s Isabelle Mahl second (2:36.70) and Audrey Jackson third (3:00.62).
In the final running event, Magato won the girls 200 dash with a time of 25.85, with Strong placing second at 26.35. In the boys 200, Strong took home the win with 22.56 and Christan Couch was third (23.23).
*In the field events, Barton was third in the girls high jump with a leap of 4’ 8”, and over in the boys high jump, Trey Sellers had a big time jump of 6’ 7’ to easily win the title. Tipp’s CJ Bailey was second at 5’9” and Titley was third (5’ 4”).
Barton came back and won the girls long jump with a jump of 16’ 6.5” and Tipp’s Kaylyn Schult was fourth (14’ 11.5”). Howard won the boys long jump easily with a leap of 21’ 5” with Kam Hypes placing fourth (17’).
Throwing the girls discus for Tipp was Anderson placing second with a distance of 74’ 10”. Carson Hughes gave Tipp a win in the boys discus throwing 129’ 10”.
Belle Stanford won the girls shot put as the Tipp athlete had a throw of 29’ 0.5” for the Red Devils only top four finish. Tipp also placed second in the boys shot as Samuel Adkins threw 38’ 8.25”.
Finally for the Red Devils, they placed second in the boys pole vault as Jameson Farkas vaulted 11’ 6”.
