THS grad Ben Sauls competes in NFL Combine

Tippecanoe Class of 2020 graduate Ben Sauls competed in the NFL Combine last week in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium. He was the first left-footed kicker invited to the Combine since 2008. He performed very well at the Combine, making 12 of his 14 kicks. He also met with the Special Team Coordinators from all 32 NFL teams.

Sauls played college football for the University of Pittsburgh for five seasons. He red-shirted in 2020 and was the team’s kickoff specialist in 2021. He won the starting job in 2022, notably ending that season going 5 for 5 at the Sun Bowl, including the game-winning 47-yard field goal with four seconds left.

Sauls finished his final season in 2024 at Pitt, earning All-American honors. He also earned a semifinalist nod for the Lou Groza award for the top collegiate kicker after making 21 of 24 field goal attempts and all 44 of his extra points during the Panthers’ 2024 season.

His “made field goal” rate of 87.5% was the highest of his career. In 2024, Sauls tied Alex Kessman’s Panthers record for longest field goal when he made a 58-yarder against Cal. On the year, Sauls made 6 of 7 field goals from 50 yards or more. He also set a record in 2024 for most consecutive field goals made with 15. He graduated in 2024, earning a Bachelors Degree in Economics.
