Milton-Union Sports Roundup for Feb. 26
The Milton-Union wrestling team competed in the Three Rivers Conference (TRC) Championships on Feb. 15 to kick off their post season competition.
Payton Mayfield (132) and Seth Lowry (144) both took first place which earned them titles.
Mayfield went 3-0 with two pins and one tech fall, while Lowry went 4-0 with two pins and one tech fall.
Isaac Sowers (126), Ian Coffey (138) and Jesse Williamson (285) all took second place.
Sowers went 2-1 with one tech fall, Coffey 3-1 with two pins and one tech fall and Williamson went 2-1 with one pin and one tech fall.
Jacob Lightner (120) and Gary Kline (157) took third. Kline went 2-2 with two pins.
Johnny Campbell (150), Brady Tinnerman (165) and Chase Hamann (175) took fourth place. Hamann went 1-3 with one pin.
Conference awards were announced for the TRC following the match.
Mayfield and Lowry were both named First-Team All TRC.
The boys basketball team played their final home game of the season on Feb. 15 against National Trail.
The ‘dogs were defeated in overtime 53-46.
Titus Copp and Levi Brumbaugh both led the team by scoring 13 points. Brumbaugh also had four rebounds and four assists.
Wyatt Kimmel added nine points and six rebounds.
The teams record stands at 5-17 (4-10 TRC) as they go into their first-round tournament game against Arcanum which will be played on Feb. 21.
The boys’ basketball conference awards were also announced.
Kimmel was named Second-Team All TRC and Copp and Brumbaugh were named Honorable Mention All TRC.
Although the girls’ basketball season has ended, their conference awards were just recently announced as well.
Jenna Brumbaugh was named First-Team All TRC and Addi Case and Micheala Firks were named Honorable Mention All TRC.
