Red Devils bowl past Xenia, Bethel

It was a good week for the Tipp bowling squad as they head toward the postseason tournament coming up in just a few short weeks.

The Red Devils opened the week with a pair of wins against Xenia. The boys were victorious 2,140-2,103 in a very close match for the MVL victory.

“That is really encouraging. Before, Xenia generally has a very solid program. They tend to be 100-200 pins ahead of us on average, so our boys had a very good night,” Tipp coach Jim Ridgeway said. “Nobody had a big breakout day for us.”

Hunter Herzog had a solid day with a 421 series which is a typical day for Herzog.

“Except for Hunter, nobody had a fantastic night, but they all did well,” Ridgeway said. “Nobody had a bad night. They came together in their games and the baker games.”

Behind Herzog was Hayden Sherwood with a 359 series for the Red Devils.

For the Tipp girls, they were also victorious 1,702-1,283.

Morgan Wolbers rolled 192-188 for a 380 series to lead the Red Devils.

“She is really looking solid this year, she is in the top six in stats in the MVL,” Ridgeway said.

Following Wolbers, it was Bella Reynolds with a good night for Tipp.

“She is our two-handed female bowler here at Tipp and has always struggled without the high speed. I have been working with her and something finally clicked.” Reynolds had a 148 average for the day.

*Next up for Tipp was a non-conference match against Bethel in only their second season of bowling. The Tipp boys were victorious 1,964-1,824.

Herzog led Tipp with a 406 series, Connor Demange was next in line for Tipp with a 348.

“I am really happy for Connor,” Ridgeway said. “He was a new bowler his freshman year. Things are now starting to click his junior year. He has been a solid 170-180 bowler this year.”

For the girls, Tipp also won 1,765-1,558.

Alyssa Lunsford was the high scorer for Tipp with a 331.

“She is a very talented young lady and is a sophomore,” Ridgeway said. “I expect good things out of her after last year, which was her first year bowling ever.” Wolbers finished second for Tipp with a 323 average.
