Traffic stop leads to narcotics seizure and one arrest

On January 22 at 12:21 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on S. County Road 25A in the area of Swailes Road in Concord Township for a moving violation. Upon further investigation, it was learned that the front seat passenger, Andrew L. Caughey, age 37, of Troy, had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Miami County for possession of narcotics and a second arrest warrant from the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for parole violation. Caughey was taken into custody by deputies for the two active warrants.

Upon arrest, deputies located three separate baggies with narcotics on Caughey’s person. One baggie contained 31 grams of suspected cocaine, a second baggie contained 20 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a third baggie contained 112 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Caughey was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail on the two arrest warrants. The narcotics will be forwarded to the crime laboratory for analysis. When results are received, a Grand Jury indictment for the new narcotics violations will be sought.
