Milton-Union Winter Sports Roundup

There has been a lot happening in the world of Milton-Union sports as the winter season has been in full swing. There is much to catch up on regarding the boys and girls basketball teams and the wrestling team, where one athlete had a great achievement.
On the girls basketball side of things, the team started their season with a perfect 8-0 record, led by senior Jenna Brumbaugh. She scored her 1,000th point and was second in the conference, averaging 19.9 points per game.
However, their season began to turn when they were matched up with inner conference team Covington on December 19. The team took their first loss to the Bucs in a close game, 48-42. This brought their record to 8-1 (4-1 TRC). After days off and game cancellations due to the holidays and weather, the girls’ next game was away at Northridge on January 7. In another inner conference matchup, the team lost 49-33. Brumbaugh again led the team with 15 points and 9 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to start their win streak back up. Although the girls stand with an impressive record of 8-2, it’s not where they want to be. Luckily for them, they have a chance to play these teams they have fallen short to. This team has a strong connection on the court, so there is no doubt they will begin to fall back into their winning pattern.

On the boys basketball side, the story, unfortunately, looks much different. Despite their hard work and years of practice with one another, the team is struggling to win their games. The battle of size comparison with other teams is one of the most significant issues holding them back.
