NC Library to host Author, UFO Experiencer
Dr. Bruce Olav Solheim will discuss paranormal experiences, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
NEW CARLISLE- Author, professor, and UFO experiencer Bruce Olav Solheim, PH.D. will visit the New Carlisle Public Library on Saturday, September 21, for a book signing and presentation on his experiences with the paranormal and UFOs hosted by Aerial Phenomenon Research of Ohio (APROH).
“I think it’s going to be quite diverse,” APROH director Penny Passon said. “A lot of it will have to do with his own personal experiences that he’s had.”
“He also has shared that he has a story to tell about his son, who works at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base,” she said. “Afterwards, he’s going to bring his latest book and other things he’s written to do a book signing.”
The program will be free, and starts at 2 p.m. Seating is extremely limited, Passon said. Attendees must register by emailing aproh51@gmail.com to reserve a seat at the event.
“It has a limited seating capacity of about 40,” she said. “There will be a list. If we get an overflow, people are more than welcome to hang out at the library to see if there are any seats available if we have any no-shows, and/or if they want to hang around until it’s over to purchase a book and get it signed.”
A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Dr. Solheim has published 11 books, including several about the paranormal. He is currently a distinguished professor of history at Citrus College in Glendora, California, where he has taught for 26 years.
Dr. Solheim’s most recent book is We Are the Aliens: A Case of Alien-Human Integration.
“He’s got quite a diverse background,” Passon said. “He is actually a professor at a college in California, he has written a lot of novels and books, he’s done screenplays, he’s done comic books. He teaches history, but he is also a UFO experiencer.”
“He’s got a background in the paranormal,” she said.
Passon said Dr. Solheim and other presenters were scheduled to appear at a special Hangar 18 Conference planned for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, but the conference was canceled at the last minute.
“He was going to be one of many guest speakers for the Hangar 18 Conference,” she said. “It was supposed to be in the month of September, but it fell through.”
“I arranged it at the New Carlisle Library so that he could come,” Passon said. “I feel like he is doing this out of kindness and not charging anything. It’s just an opportunity that doesn’t come along too often.”
APROH members also host regular monthly meetings at the New Carlisle Public Library from 2 to 4 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month.
“We get all kinds of types,” Passon said. “We’ll get people who come just because they’re interested in the topic and being around like-minded people. We get people who have actually had an experience, and they haven’t been able to share it with anybody.”
“They feel comfortable to be able to come in and share for the first time,” she said. “It’s a safe place to share; no one’s going to judge, ridicule, or make fun of you.”
The group’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31. More information can be found online at www.newcarlislelibrary.org or through the APROH Facebook page.
“Before, there used to be so much stigma people really didn’t talk,” Passon said. “If you had somebody who had a sighting, they were afraid to be ridiculed. Now I think since it’s more coming out where the government’s talking about it, more people are talking about it.”
“I think it’s just slowly kind of progressing until it will come out more and more,” she said.
