Alumni: Where are they now? Jenny Ginn Thompson

From the volleyball courts to the corporate world, Jenny Ginn Thompson has left an indelible mark on the communities she's touched. With a storied athletic career spanning over two decades, Ginn Thompson has transitioned into a successful administrator and

entrepreneur. A four-year varsity letter winner in volleyball, basketball, and softball at Milton-Union High School, Ginn Thompson took her skills to the collegiate level at Ohio Northern University, where she started as a middle hitter on their volleyball team for three years. She earned all-tournament team honors at the Emery Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia, and All-OAC first-team recognition in her senior year, leading the team in hitting percentage at .354.

After college, Ginn Thompson worked for the Cleveland Cavaliers for two years before venturing into coaching. She spent eight years as a coach at Labette Community College and Fort Hays State University, guiding Division II college volleyball teams to success.

Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-found Prep2Prep, a high school sports media site on the West Coast, where she served as its General Manager until 2020. Since then, she has worked in administration, marketing, and public relations for multiple school districts across Kansas and Ohio.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Ginn Thompson is a devoted mother of three and wife. She and her sister started Cult Cookies in 2019, making royal icing sugar cookies. An avid runner, she has completed four marathons, 12 half-marathons, and countless other races across the country.

In 2022, Ginn Thompson suffered a pontine (brain stem) stroke just seven weeks after giving birth to her third child. She spent an entire year undergoing occupational, physical, and speech therapy to regain her strength and mobility. Despite the setback, Ginn Thompson persevered and moved back to Ohio in 2023 to be closer to better healthcare options and a more supportive community for her children. She currently works at Miami Valley Career Technology Center for the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, following a year as the business manager at Lincoln Community Center in Troy.
