AOTW: Anderson Mohler played big part of championship as a sophomore

Ed. Note: This week, our Bethel Feature Athlete of the Week is junior Anderson Mohler, a key part of the Bees baseball team who won the league title in the spring.

It was another great year for the Bethel baseball team, which won its second consecutive Three Rivers Conference championship. One key member of the Bees' success was junior-to-be Anderson Mohler. The all-conference selection put together an outstanding season, and he reflected on his team's success.

“The season went great; our pitching staff was amazing, and our infield/outfield were phenomenal! I wouldn’t ask for a different pitching staff nor an infield/outfield,” Mohler said. “I think our team was so successful this year because we all were putting in the work and dedication on and off the field.”

“We also had amazing leadership with our seniors. Those seniors really played a big role in everything we did. I think they really took their time to explain everything in better detail if someone had any questions.”

The team's success led to many postseason honors, including a second-team all-conference selection for Mohler.

“I think overall I did pretty well; if there was anything I would change, it would be my hitting for sure,” Mohler said. “My hitting from last season to this past season was a little different. In my previous season as a freshman, I did amazing when it came to hitting. And this season I felt like that’s what I lacked the most.”

“I really need to improve on taking care of my arm. This past season, I was having problems with my elbow. I wasn't able to pitch at all, which was a little frustrating, but we overcame and still had an amazing season.”

For now, Mohler has spent the first month of his summer working on his game and looking to continue to improve.

“During this summer season, I am really focusing on hitting and really just having fun overall,” he said. “As of right now I am getting back to pitching and throwing bullpens. I have closed one game so far and I did amazing.” Mohler had four strikeouts and only one walk, not allowing a run.

Heading into his junior year, Mohler is working toward some goals, including improving his velocity on the mound.

“I would love to be throwing high 80’s and possibly touch 90 on the mound; right now, I’m sitting 83 - 84 mph from the mound,” he said. “Another goal is to win the TRC all four years of high school. I know we can do it; we have to keep pushing and thriving for it.”
