TABLE SALT: Dancing in the clovers

Dance recital excitement buzzed all over the gymnasium. Tap shoe clicks echoed through the hallways. The bathrooms were clouded with hairspray and glitter. Dancers posed for pictures and anxiously awaited their turn to shine on the stage. Outside, in the grassy entrance, one ballet dancer was squatting down with her nose in the clover and her tutu in the air. When I got closer, I asked her what she was doing. “I’m looking for 4-leaf-clovers,” eleven-year-old Cora Kauffman announced. She stood up and showed me several good luck charms in her hands while her mom flipped open a book and revealed more of the rare clovers. Cora finds the lucky leaves whenever she takes the time to look.

In a quiet corner, away from the hustle and bustle of the dance recital, Cora took a moment to herself to look carefully through the green patches of clover to get her hands on the lucky charms. She only found them when she paused and began dancing to the beat her heart desired, leaving the distractions behind.

We all walk over 4-leaf-clovers regularly, but how often do we stop to actually seek them? In the midst of your busy lives, do you stop to seek the ultimate charm? God desires us to be in a personal relationship with Him. He tells us in Jeremiah 29:13 where to find Him. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Leave the world behind. Plié into the grassy green areas, burying yourself in the goodness that God has to offer. He wants to give you pieces of peace that can only be found when you seek Him first and foremost. We can all be lucky when we step out of the race of the world and dance into our calling, pausing to look for the fortune that God wants to offer us as the inheritance of His kingdom. At her dance recital, Cora found 19 4-leaf-clovers to add to her collection and taught us all a life lesson.
