Registration Open for Youth Tennis Summer Program

The USTA Midwest Youth Team Tennis camp is back for the summer! The camp uses age-appropriate equipment, court dimensions, and scoring to make the game fun for young players. Kids learn teamwork, hand-eye coordination, agility, and successful tennis skills. No tennis experience is needed. Coaches from Schroeder Tennis Center, assisted by local high school tennis players, will be running the camp. The camp is open to any Tipp City student who has finished first grade up to students entering sixth grade.

The camp will be in the evening at the Tipp City Park tennis courts on June 10-13. There will be two age divisions: 1st-3rd grade from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and 4th-6th grade from 7:00-8:00 p.m. All signups are done online at midwestteamtennis.com. Registration closes May 26. Schroeder Tennis Center wishes Coach Mike a Happy Retirement

Coach Mike Sherer has announced his retirement from Schroeder Tennis Center. Mike started playing tennis at the age of 14. He went on to play at Richmond High School and Ball State University. After college, Mike married his wife, Cathy. They have been married for 45 years. They have lived in Columbus, Ohio, Erie, Pennsylvania, and Richmond, Indiana, where he has always worked as a tennis professional or a high school tennis coach.

Mike and Cathy have two adult children who are married and have children of their own. Cathy recently retired as well. They plan on spending their free time chasing their grandchildren around....in Zionsville, Indiana and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mike would like to thank everyone for allowing him to work with you and your families. He hopes that everyone continues to enjoy and grow the game of tennis! "Remember, you only live once - but you get to serve twice!"

 

Dakota Schroeder Earns CSC Academic All-District Honors

(GREENWOOD, IN) – The College Sports Communicators announced their 2023-2024 women's tennis Academic All-District Teams Tuesday afternoon and the Thomas More University Saints had one student-athlete recognized. This student-athlete is junior Dakota Schroeder (Tipp City, OH / Tippecanoe). Student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III as well as the NAIA are recognized for this honor.

To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must have competed in 90% of the institution's games/contests/sets played or must start in at least 66% of the games/contests/sets. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Graduate students must have a minimum of a 3.50 for both their graduate program GPA and their undergraduate GPA.

Dakota Schroeder is a Business Administration major with a 3.62 GPA. She appeared in 13 matches for the Saints. She compiled a singles record of 6-7 and a doubles record of 3-10.
