Class is out for the seniors of 2024

If you heard a lot of screaming and clapping early in the morning last Friday, don’t be worried - Tippecanoe High School pulled out all the stops to celebrate the last day of school for the Class of 2024. Bikes, trailers, golf carts, dirt bikes, and tractors were a few modes of transportation that took to the streets early Friday morning for the annual senior parade. For residents of Tipp City, the fun stopped as the last scooters and skateboards arrived at the high school. But, for the graduating class, the day had only begun.

Following the parade, the seniors met in the high school auditorium to attend the College and Career Signing Day. The graduating Red Devils will turn into representatives of universities, the military, and the workforce across the country, with students like Keenan Melton and Vanessa Nordquist traveling to the University of Southern California and the University of Alabama, respectively. Six students were recognized to be entering the military, and another twenty-two were recognized to be entering the workforce.

Principal Dan Barnes put it best when addressing the graduating seniors. “Whether you’re off to college, or a trade school, or the workforce… the teachers and counselors and staff here are all proud of you.” The ceremony ended with great applause, and the class quickly got ready for the Tipp’s Got Talent show that students in the high school registered for. Acts in the talent show included Jack Wyant’s final rendition of his Buckingham persona, and a real-life Bachelor contest, with special guest Deacon Blake taking the crown.

As one of the last events that the Class of 2024 would participate in together, the district held a clap out for the students in each of the district’s buildings. The seniors traveled back in time through their middle and elementary schools, with younger students cheering for them at each building. Many also hugged and spoke with former teachers, counselors, and coaches.

The seniors wrapped up their day with a class wide picnic out at Eagles Park. The students ate, played game, and shared in memories that will keep them going to graduation. As many of us can remember, the final moments spent with high school classmates are forever cherished. And as the Class of 2024 walks closer and closer to the graduation stage, they will surely remember their final day as one filled with joy and happiness.
