Woman struck and killed by train in Tipp City

On Monday night at approximately 10:17 p.m., medics and officers responded to the Walnut St. train crossing on the report of a female being struck by a train.

Upon arrival, the officer observed the female lying on the west side of the road beside the stationary train. A family member stated that he and the woman were arguing as they were walking and she attempted to beat the train.

The train conductor stated he was traveling north and when he reached the Walnut St. crossing, he observed a female on the ground. He advised she attempted to cross over the train tracks to the east side after the crossing arms were down.  He observed her stand up and fall again near the tracks, hitting the first engine with her body.

The female in her late 40’s was transported to Miami Valley Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
