National FFA Convention
Last week, seven of our chapter members attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana alongside 70,000 others from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We started off our first day at the Indianapolis Zoo and spent time at the Expo afterwards. At the Expo, students were able to network with agricultural college and career representatives and shop at the FFA shopping mall. We then stopped for dinner at Bru Burger Bar & headed to the Meagan Moroney concert!
We kicked off day two by attending the first general session where we heard from keynote speaker, Kevin Wanzer. We then headed to lunch at The Loft at Traders Point. All of the cheeses and most of the vegetables used in the restaurant come from the gardens & creamery on site. After lunch we were able to tour the creamery and got to sample their fresh-made ice cream. Our next tour was of RSG, Reproductive Specialty Group, where we learned more about small ruminant genetics. After our tours we visited Sal’s Famous Pizzeria for dinner before ending our night at Kelsay Farms for the Buckeye Bash!
We started day three off with another early session, where we heard from keynote speaker, Temple Grandin! We also got to listen to National FFA Officer Carter Howell’s, retiring address. After the session we spent some more time at the Expo before enjoying some German cuisine at The Rathskeller Restaurant. We ended our last full day at the Three Hills Rodeo! Our fourth and final day started with a tour of Garfield Conservatory and ended with a quick stop at Culver’s on the way home!
