Several runners advance to regionals
The Southwest District cross country sectional meet was held at Cedarville last weekend. Several runners from the coverage area qualified for the regionals this coming weekend in Troy.
Leading the way in the boys races was Tippecanoe junior Landon Kimmel, as he set a course record with a 14:52.3, a comfortable 15-second victory over his closest competitor from Centerville. The Red Devils finished third overall with 104 points, trailing only Beavercreek and Centerville. Also qualifying was Butler, finishing seventh overall.
Everett Muhlenkamp placed 12th overall with a 16:10.7 and was Tipp’s second runner. Luke Schwieterman finished 26th with a time of 16:33. Ethan Berning landed one spot behind with a 16:35.8.
Dimitri Hartman ran 16:58.6 to place 38th overall, and his Tipp teammate Will Hept finished 39th with a time of 17:00.8. Placing 44th for the Red Devils was Eli Ramos running 17:06.8.
The top runner for Butler was Jack Rosson who placed 16th running the race in 16:18.2, Rylan Dadey ran 16:58.2 which was good enough for 35th overall.
Also, for Butler, Korey Snyder ran 17:12.2, Luke Campbell 17:12.3, and Levi Campbell 17:40.2.
Bethel and Milton Union both qualified as a team for the regionals this weekend in Division 2. The Bees' top runner was Kade Schweikhardt, who finished 26th in 17:16.5, with Justin Brinson landing 30th (17:23.2). Also for the Bees, Patrick Firstenberger ran 17:53.7, Michael Trussel ran 18:58.7, Cullen Firstenberger finished in 19:47.5, and Caleb Wrobel ran 21:31.6.
For Milton Union, Colin Hinkelman ran to a seventh-place finish with a time of 16:33.3, Zak Klepinger 17:35.3, Andrew Oakes 18:04.5, Jacob Grube 18:08.9, Riley Kent 18:51.8, Tyler Shoemaker 18:56.0, and Chase Parsons 19:11.6.
In the D1 girls race, Butler did not qualify as a team, but Cecelia Campbell finished 17th and advanced with a time of 20:22.8. She was the lone Aviator girls runner to advance.
For the Red Devils girls, they finished fourth in the Division 2 race to advance to regionals as a team. Both Bethel and Milton Union did not advance as a team, but will send individuals to the regionals.
Tipp saw Morgan Collins finish 11th with a 20:28.3, Lucia Ranly was 21st (21:02.5), and Katelyn Beeson ran 21:06.9 to place 25th overall.
Sydney LaBreck finished the race in 21:19.9 and placed 30th, Mary Waibel was 41st with 21:45.1, and Lauren Anderson finished 50th overall with 22:16.5.
Bethel freshman Olivia Brumbaugh qualified with a 17th place finish running 20:45.1 while her teammate Grace Periano also advanced with 21:05 to land 22nd.
Aubree Bates was Milton Union’s lone qualifier with a 20:46.9 placing 18th overall.
