Tipp City Chamber of Commerce welcomes new executive director

In October 2023, fifth generation Tipp City resident Meredith (Coughlin) McKee became the new Executive Director of the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce. McKee, a Tippecanoe High School graduate and Butler University alumna, is “committed to supporting Chamber members, facilitating opportunities for growth, and championing initiatives that benefit Tipp City.”

“My father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were all business owners in Tipp City. In this role, I will seek to keep traditions alive by adding fun, fresh energy and value to Tipp for getting people excited and involved in the community,” said McKee.

"I aim to convey to business owners that the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce plays a crucial role in our community, providing support for businesses. There's significant value in businesses uniting to contribute to the community, and in my role as Executive Director, I aspire to actively participate in and listen to what's happening in this collaborative effort," said McKee.

One example of this support is the ‘Talk of Tipp,’ collaborative quarterly coffee chats led by the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Tipp City Partnership (DTCP). These events are designed for Tipp City business owners, non-profits, and government officials within Miami County to come together to share what’s going on in their areas. The first one of 2024 took place on Monday, January 22 from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. at the Tipp Center. “These events are designed to bring people together and foster unity. It's crucial for businesses to collaborate, network, and establish relationships, supporting each other in the process," said McKee.

Another important initiative being held this winter is the ‘Solar Eclipse Ready Workshop’ on February 15, and will be followed by the ‘Solar Eclipse Block Party’ on Saturday, April 6. “Many businesses are unaware that Miami County has been identified as a place to view the ‘2024 Total Solar Eclipse’ on April 8. The workshop in February will help inform businesses of what to expect since many hotels are already booked and traffic is expected to be really busy,” said McKee.

The community-wide block party is another collaborative event led by the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce, DTCP, and Tipp City Public Library from 10:00 am -10:00 pm. There will be something for the entire community to enjoy: kids activities in the morning with the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, live bands, food and more!

In the spring, ‘The Taste of Tipp Business Expo’ will be held on May 2 at the Tipp Center from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and will feature local Tipp restaurants and businesses. Tickets are $5 cash at the door.

"In my current role, I've experienced a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Interacting with a diverse range of individuals is a priority for me, and I have the opportunity to do so every day by providing support and encouragement. My favorite part of this job is working with all local businesses, building relationships and being a light to the community,” said McKee.
