West Milton – For The Record: ReVive It
Starting in her garage, Sarah Copp of West Milton began reviving furniture. Keeping busier than she imagined, Sarah quickly realized many in our area were searching for a fresh start for their dated pieces.
Picking up items that needed some T.L.C., taking them to her home for a complete work over, she flipped them and sold them on Facebook Marketplace.
“That went so well I decided to open a brick and mortar to sell revived furniture & home decor.” In 2018, she opened the doors to a downtown store front in the heart of West Milton, ReVive It.
“This is my home town. I grew up here & love our community. I wanted to build a business here because we have a quaint town that has a lot of potential.”
Sarah opened more than just a business, but a place where everyone who enters feels like they are home. Sharing her passion for giving new life to the old, customers from near and far flock to the doors of ReVive It to get Sarah’s advice on repurposing their pieces.
“I added the Rethunk Junk Paint line that I currently use and then clothing and jewelry.” Customers can expect to find Rethunk Junk furniture and cabinet paint, revived furniture, home decor, candles, boutique style clothing and jewelry inside, plus a rich history.
The ReVive It store operates out of the old West Milton Record Office on the corner of S. Miami and E. Hamilton Streets. Sarah appreciates the history that is alive and well inside. Original bricks still line the walls and a large “West Milton Record” decal adorns the front window.
While the West Milton Record is no longer in print, exciting news is still coming off the press. An addition is currently underway, just to the south of the building. The plans are for a cafe to open, connecting to the ReVive shop. The construction is progressing, but the need for someone to open and run the cafe is still in the works. The building was erected in the early 1900s, holding the past and preparing to be part of the future.
Sarah helps preserve history and is just one of the many faces behind the movement happening in West Milton, Project Revival. The organization has launched many new downtown events and been part of building up the business and foot traffic supporting the town.
If you’re looking for a local gift this Christmas, stop by the store. You’ll be met with a friendly face and quality goods. You’ll surely leave feeling revived.
