Proposed Elementary School Presented to Tipp Citizens
On December 20 at the Board of Education building, Superintendent Aaron Moran presented overhead schematics of Tipp City’s proposed, new elementary school along with pictures of classrooms from other new schools designed by Garman-Miller Architects, the firm which helped design Tipp’s new school. Moran emphasized that citizen input was still welcome because building plans are not yet finalized.
Moran also noted the entire project is dependent on Tipp citizens passing the new-school bond issue in March 2024. Assuming the bond issue passes, demolition/construction will likely begin in 2025 and the new KP-8 elementary school will be ready for students in the Fall of 2027.
The plan is to demolish Nevin Coppock, build the new school on that site, and house all elementary grades, Pre-Kindergarten through 8, in the new school.
Moran said the new school will be a long-term solution for the kids in Tipp City, and for Tipp City citizens. Cars and buses will have separate entrances, and cars will have a “one-way in” entrance and “one-way out” exit for drop-offs and pick-ups, providing enhanced safety and traffic efficiency.
Although Nevin Coppock will be demolished, Moran said there will be no need for “schoolroom trailers” to house students, who will temporarily attend Broadway Elementary or L.T. Ball during construction. This will save the district millions of dollars. Superintendent Moran noted that eventually Broadway and the Middle School will also be demolished.
L.T. Ball will be retained and likely house the Board of Education and become a valuable community resource.
