Information Session to Be Held December 5
City planner heading to Beavercreek
Tipp City's city planner and zoning administrator is leaving the position to join the city of Beavercreek staff as city planner. Colin Carville notified the city Planning Board of his move at its November meeting. Tipp City is advertising for the position. City Manager Tim Eggleston said it hopes to have someone on board by the end of the year. In the meantime, the planner/zoning administrator responsibilities will be handled by Matt Spring, city development director.
Drive to restock pantries underway
The annual Miami County Cares “Restock the Pantries” food drive is underway. This drive is in partnership with Meijer Distribution Center and New Method Packaging providing 15 items per box that can be picked up and distributed directly by local food pantries without additional processing.
The boxes will be distributed this year to food pantries at New Path, First Place, Needy Basket and Bethany Center. The project goal is filling 500 boxes. Those interested in participating in the “Restock the Pantries” program are asked to fill each box with the list of requested items. The boxes are available for pickup through Dec. 8 at the main entrance to the Miami County Safety Building at 201 W. Main St., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. Any organizations wishing to participate by filling 10 or more boxes are asked to contact Angela Lewis at 937-440-5996.
Boxes will be collected at the Hobart Center for County Government, 510 W. Water St., during regular business hours through Dec. 8. On Dec. 9, boxes can be dropped off in the center's parking lot from 9-11 a.m. The shopping lists for desired items is available on the county website at www.co.miami.oh.us or via a QR code on the boxes. Applications available for kids Christmas project
Miami County Job and Family Services is accepting applications for the Christmas for Kids program. Applications can be made by phone at 937-573-2460 or in person Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Job and Family Services office, 2040 N. County Road 25A, Troy. Parents/guardians must have custody of the child or children and must qualify for benefits through Job and Family Services. The application deadline is Dec. 8.
Bethel Hope participating in virtual food drive
Meijer and Bethel Hope are teaming up for a virtual food drive through Dec. 30. To participate, purchase a Simply Give card at checkout at the Huber Heights store and Meijer will match a $10 donation with $10 more in groceries. Or, those interested in participating can send a check for a donation directly to Bethel Hope, 6805 E. U.S. Route 40, Tipp City, 45371. Donations will be submitted on a double match day. Write "Simply Give" on the memo line of the check.
County selling vehicles, generator
The Miami County commissioners approved the sale of two vehicles and a diesel generator as unneeded, obsolete or unfit property during their Nov. 16 meeting. The following items will be auctioned on the Govdeals.com website:
- 2018 Ford Explorer/Police Interceptor, 173,161 miles
- 2018 Ford Explorer/Police Interceptor, 166,554 miles
- 1972 Caterpillar D334 diesel generator
